Both Scott Mann and Geoffrey Cox voted against the Letwin amendment in the House of Commons today. The amendment was to the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal. It is a safety net, withholding Commons approval until the necessary UK legislation to leave the EU has been passed. The DUP supported the amendment, designed to prevent a No Deal Brexit. The vote was 322 to 306.
In response to this result, the government cancelled today’s vote on the actual deal itself. Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said the government would introduce legislation, next week, needed for Brexit on 31 October. Currently, the Prime Minister says he is refusing to obey the law asking the EU for an extension.
