A view from Efford Down towards Bude in the 1860s. In the foreground, East & West Cottages have been built but there is nothing next to them yet. A couple of ships’ masts project above the back road. In the background Hartland and Othello Terraces overlook the lower part of the town, with Marine Terrace and the Bude Hotel in the centre and the early buildings of the Strand. At the top on the right is King Street.
