Bude Pavilion

During the 1960s I was an agent and manager of ‘pop’ bands and visited Bude on several occasions.
The proprietors of The Pavillion at that time were a couple and their son (adopted I believe)
The lady was wheelchair bound and the husband was a garage owner who restored classic cars.
The son was the dance hall manager.
Unfortunately, I cannot remember their names but they were a lovely family and I do remember that if there was ever any trouble in the dance hall the lady sorted it out! No messing with her for sure.

“Pop” and Mrs Herbert ran the Headland Pavilion in my day. Their son was Peter Herbert, a boatman, his wife was Gwen and they maybe had a son and a daughter.
The lady in the wheelchair was a ‘Herbert’ and was married to David Currie who ran a garage as well as looking after his wife. Their son, Paul, who I know, would probably be able to fill you in with more

Dave and his wife. Sadly he died quite a few years ago but his wife now 90+still lives at Sensham Farm Marhamchurch. Dave drove us to our wedding reception in one of his restored cars in 1986, a lovely guy!!
