Local election result Bude

On a 29% turnout, David Parsons is to be congratulated on being elected back onto Cornwall Council. David was previously a Cornwall councillor. He said during the election campaign:

It was a huge honour to serve as one of your Cornwall Councillors between 2011-2017

I was proud that in that time I was able to make a real difference both to the town and to individuals

For personal reasons, I was not able to stand for election last year.  However, as my circumstances have changed I am delighted to announce that I am the Lib Dem candidate in the forthcoming Cornwall Council by-election that takes place on Thursday 23rd August

This election will be close. I am standing with experience behind me. The person elected will only hold the seat for a little over two years and will need to hit the ground running.  I know how to make a difference in County Hall, as I did before.

It would be a pleasure to once again represent you on Cornwall Council and be part of a team that stands up for Bude.

In the event it wasn’t that close, as the voting went as follows:

David Parsons, Lib Dem, 1010 votes (53% of turnout)

Bob Willingham, Independent, 475 votes (25% of turnout)

Alex Dart, Conservative, 264 votes (14% of turnout)

Ray Shemilt, Labour, 148 votes (8% of turnout)

There was a low 29% turnout or 1897 voters in total.
