Local Covid update

As we hear of more people 65+ now being vaccinated, it seemed a good time to look again at the Covid map/data for our locality.

What is lovely is that the following areas all have suppressed data (2 or less cases): Bude and Stratton, Kilkhampton to Poundstock, Holsworthy, Bradworthy and Welcome, Hartland Coast, Crackington Haven, and many areas further afield.  Camelford & Tresmeer reported 4 cases to 13th February, and Launceston 5. Torridge is down to 9 cases, while Devon has reduced to 391 overall and Cornwall 334.

The latest data tells us that people who tested positive in Cornwall on 18th February numbered 42.  There were 4 deaths which is sad but a drop from the previous 7 days. On 14th February, 0 patients were admitted to North Devon Hospital with Covid (there were 3 in total the previous 7 days).

People vaccinated up to and including 17 February 2021 in England

First dose: 13,817,914

Second dose: 500,201

Estimated R number for the healthcare region of South West

0.7 to 0.9 with a daily infection growth rate range of -5% to -3% as of 12 February 2021

There are clear indications now that number are dropping, so we can hopefully look forward to PM Boris Johnson’s ‘roadmap’ announcement on 22nd February.
