Kelsey visits Bude in search of Pamela

I’m no Vicko, but I do enjoy accompanying occasional visitors around Bude, though in my case it is to visit the place where tarot artist Pamela Colman Smith lived – and died.

Pamela was born in England but her parents were American, so she seems to have a big following among people from across the pond.

The latest visitor was a young lady from Toronto, Kelsey, who contacted me after communicating with the group of American visitors I met a couple of years ago who were on a mystical Britain tour.

Kelsey was fascinated by Pamela, so we explored the small area where she would have lived and gone about her daily business.

Pamela isn’t celebrated in Bude but tourism could be missing a trick. When the previous coach load of visitors came they were amazed there was no exhibition, and Kelsey said if we had one she would definitely return for it. She also visited Susanna Dark at Wise Old Crow where they discussed astrology among other things.

Visitors from USA (including renowned tarot blogger, Mary Greer, and author, Susan Wands) with Lorraine from the Bencoolen and Dawn (both centre)

My book on Pamela should be published in August, so it may well attract more visitors.
