Keeping calm and helping out – Wildwood for the Foodbank

Wildwood on Lansdown Rd is doing its bit for the community in the current crisis.

Things are especially tough at the moment for those who can’t afford food, let alone to panic buy it.

If you are shopping locally and can spare a donation, Wildwood, on Lansdown St, has its Foodbank collection outside the shop.

The Trussell Trust says the focus needs to be on non-perishable items:

A typical food parcel includes:

  • Cereal
  • Soup
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Tinned tomatoes/ pasta sauce
  • Lentils, beans and pulses
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tea/coffee
  • Tinned fruit
  • Biscuits
  • UHT milk
  • Fruit juice

Many food banks also provide essential non-food items such as toiletries and hygiene products.
