Inspiring art exhibition at The Castle Heritage Centre

By Helen Shingler:

This is a joint collaboration by four local artists who have been inspired through attending the art classes of Lynne Holehouse of Seventh Wave Gallery.  Coral Locke,  Mary Tilzey, Heather Virgin and Julie Howes are currently exhibiting their individual work in the downstairs Studio at Bude Castle until June 29th 2019.

I popped along on the afternoon of their opening. As a local artist, I know all these lovely ladies through meeting them while attending Lynne’s classes several years ago.  The classes are great fun and are still held at The Bank on Tuesdays and Wednesdays plus tea/coffee and delicious cake are provided too.

The most exciting thing for me about seeing anyone’s art is the diversity and different interpretations of the same theme when attending a class.  Everyone has a style which develops over time and you will definitely find a piece of art that appeals to you in this delightful exhibition.  I personally admire anyone who can paint a wave with foam and make it look real! I struggled with that one but have now found my ‘niche’ as they say in more illustrative watercolour.  I still continue to be inspired by others too………. one of the joys of all art!

Please pop in and take a look at what you might be able to achieve if you start painting and be inspired by the wonderful art created by Coral, Mary, Heather and Julie.

Editor’s note: if you’d like to check out what Helen is painting now take a look at her Facebook page. Her cards are available at Jaunty Seagull in Bude.
