Galentine’s Day, never heard of it? It only started 11 years ago but I hope lockdown makes it a day that sticks around. It’s is celebrated the day before Valentine’s day on Saturday the 13th of February and is used to celebrate the love you have for the female friends in your life. A day dedicated to celebrating the love and closeness of friendship brings.

The idea first originated from the episode “Galentine’s Day” in Parks and Recreation, where the character, Lesley, gets her girls together for brunch. “Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style,”

This year it’s fallen on a Saturday and what a night out that would have been!  Obviously, with lockdown friends are kept apart due to social distancing and travel restrictions, some having not seen their besties in over a year. We all now know the importance of checking in on your friends at times like these, now more than ever so send your gal pals a little message to check in and let them know how much you care. Maybe send some flowers too….

To help Bude ladies spread the love I’ve posted a competition to win a bouquet of flowers on my Facebook and Instagram pages …

Tag your besties and tell them why they are great! As many friends as you like. A name will be chosen at random and announced on Friday the 12th of February. The winner must live within the local delivery area or arrange collection.

My heart has melted reading some of the heartwarming messages left about the amazing women of Bude.

Tracey Kilbane- “Penny Luya Wilson for always being there when you need her, for the love and support she gives to her family and friends unconditionally x”

Gemma Bryant-Blakely- “Deborah Bryant my mum but also my best friend. Who is doing such an amazing job at Stratton medical center throughout the pandemic and always!! Xx”

Steph Jones-Giles- “Amanda Tame, for simply being incredible during this pandemic. Bude support systems would look very different without her x”

There’s still plenty of time to enter as the winner will be announced on Friday the 12th February 2021. So get tagging and spreading the love.
