From today – Plan B: work from home, if you can

As ‘Plan B’ gets underway, the booster vaccination programme will be significantly accelerated so that all eligible adults will be offered a booster jab by the new year. The booster rollout is to stem Omicron, and avoid imposing further restrictions. This was mentioned in the Prime Minister’s address to the nation.

It is already in place that you must wear a face covering in most indoor public places, at large venues and events, and on public transport.

From today, 13 December, you should also work from home if you can.

From 15 December you’ll need to show your NHS COVID Pass at nightclubs, some venues and large events to show you’re fully vaccinated, have had a negative test result in the last 48 hours, or you have an exemption.

UK data suggests that three jabs provides 70-75% protection against Omicron, while 2 jabs given 3+ months ago gives 30-40% or less, though was very effective in preventing serious illness from the Delta variant, which is also still doing the rounds.

Book your booster vaccination appointment online or find a walk-in clinic such as the ones at Bude this week.  The NHS will contact you when you are eligible to book your booster dose.

If you’re a contact of someone who may have been infected with the Omicron variant, you must self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of your age, vaccination status or any negative test results.
