Meditation Room in Bude, is essentially a non-religious but spiritual meditation group who use a holistic view to healing both body, mind, and soul. The group focuses on therapeutic and spiritual meditation and have both beginners and experienced meditators regularly practicing together.
The Bude Tutor, Barry Bendell, (known locally as ‘Baz’) is a qualified and experienced Counsellor, Psycho-Dynamic, CBT and MBCT trained. He also calls upon 43 years experience in both therapeutic and spiritual meditation.
Due to the fairly recent research into the therapeutic benefits of meditation, it is now used as a recognised intervention in most of the worlds larger hospitals. Meditation is especially effective for the relief of stress, anxiety, depression, pain, obsessive behaviour, post traumatic stress disorder and much more. It has been recognised for thousands of years as a means to spiritual enlightenment and is often useful to gain a greater understanding of our essential self.
Meditation Room always offers its help free of charge as they believe that meditation is essential to holistic health of body, mind and soul. If members are able to, they give a small donation towards the rent of the room. This enables Barry to continue helping people who need therapeutic meditation for health problems, and also, assist those who are seeking something more than the physical, but don’t want to be involved in religion, of any denomination. Barry explains: “That is not to suggest that this replaces or opposes religious worship, in fact, it can complement it in many ways”.
Meditation Room meets every Thursday evening 7.00 – 8.30 pm at the Neetside Centre in Bude and there is a short introduction for new members from 6.30 pm to enable them to have a basic understanding of the principles involved before joining the regular members at 7.00 pm.
We encourage all our members to continue the meditation techniques in their daily lives, helping them to cope with whatever the world throws at them.
