Free masterclass for vehicle fleet operators

Cornwall Council is encouraging vehicle fleet operators in Cornwall to make a New Year’s resolution to reduce emissions and cut their fuel costs, and there’s a free one-day masterclass on Wednesday 31 January to help them get started.

Sponsored by CGON, the masterclass is aimed at businesses in Cornwall and the wider south-west.  The event will bring together key players from industry and the public sector to provide fleet decision makers, environmental managers and all those with an interest in lowering vehicle fleet emissions with the information they need to make the right choices.

The day will include demonstrations of hydrogen fuel additive systems and electric fleet charging solutions.  There will also be presentations about the ECO Stars Fleet Recognition Scheme, which encourages fleet operators to improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and emissions, as well as the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, zero-emission electric vehicles, and oxy-hydrogen autonomous electrolysers.

Sue James, Cornwall Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Public Protection, said: “We’re hoping many of our Cornish vehicle fleet operators and other operators in the south-west will choose to make 2018 the year that they reduce their emissions.  It’s good for our air quality, and it also makes good business sense as it can cut fuel costs significantly.  This masterclass is the perfect way for fleet operators to find out more about the technologies that are currently available and take the first steps towards a cleaner and greener 2018.”

The free one-day masterclass takes place at Chy Trevail, Beacon Technology Business Park, Bodmin from 9.30am-4.30pm on Wednesday 31 January.  Businesses can register to attend the event at www.cornwall.gov.uk/drivinginnovation.
