Free Crowdfunder workshops from Cornwall Council

Cornwall Council and the organisation Crowdfunder are running a series of free workshops in February, designed to explain how crowd funding could help unlock the potential of hundreds of community projects across Cornwall by providing an alternative source of funding for local communities.

The crowdfunding workshops will be introductory sessions suitable for anyone who wants to find out more about this method of fundraising and the potential it has to help you get funding for your local community project ideas.

Cornwall Council is looking to support not-for-profit organisations working with local communities and supporting environmental growth in Cornwall by distributing some of its grants through Crowdfunder, so some projects could be eligible for match funding. The workshops will highlight match funding available for projects in the county via Crowdfunder, and how you can access this.

The sessions will focus on some of questions frequently asked by individuals and organisations looking to see how crowdfunding can help them:

•        What is crowd funding?

•        Introducing Crowdfunder

•        The partnership with Cornwall Council

•        Benefits of crowd funding

•        What makes a good crowd funding project?

•        Three steps to success

•        Accessing advice and support

Edwina Hannaford, Cornwall Council portfolio holder for Neighbourhoods said:“Crowdfunding is really all about making great projects happen by harnessing the power of local community action to achieve donations, publicity and even attract volunteers from people from all walks of life who believe in the project.  It can be a really effective way for local entrepreneurs or a community to get an innovative idea off the ground.

“These workshops will be a fantastic source of information and inspiration to anyone in a local community who has a great idea and thinks crowd funding might help them to turn it into a reality.

“Events are filling up quickly so it’s best to book as soon as possible.”
