Free Beach School sessions

We are almost fully booked! But there’s still space on our Beach School Sessions.
Our Beach School Sessions are filling up fast and we are so excited! Classes are kicking off after Easter and we have lots of educational and interactive activities planned. Check out our timetable below and see which Session suits you best.

Here, children, young people and adults can learn about the environment in a fun and interactive way.

Classes for holidaymakers will run weekly on the beach in Bude on Wednesdays from 1pm – 3pm, focusing on beach basics and marine pollution. Attendees will learn about plastic pollution, nature and science in a hands-on and exciting environment, led by enthusiastic and professional teachers from the charity.

Beach Sessions at The 2 Minute Beach School are free and everyone is welcome. Holidaymakers will also learn about the history and geography of North Cornwall and eco-friendly activities they can do whilst on holiday in Bude.

Helen, Beach School Coordinator at The 2 Minute Foundation, said, “The 2 Minute Beach School aims to educate, empower and encourage. Our lessons teach individuals about the environment and how small actions can make a big difference. Our beach classroom is for anyone who would like to learn about nature through fun, interactive activities.”

The 2 Minute Beach School is also offering weekly sessions for local children in the area. The timetable is designed to meet the needs of as many people as possible, including specific classes for Elective Home Educated children and young people, adults and toddlers. As many after-school clubs may not be re-starting until a later date, due to being based indoors and not meeting COVID restrictions, The 2 Minute Beach School aim to fill this gap and provide a fun and safe place for kids to attend after school.

“The sessions will include loads of fun activities to keep everyone engaged and entertained. We will be leading rock pool rambles, nurdle hunts, beach clean bingo and seaweed surveys plus plenty more,” added Claire Giner, Beach School teacher.

During lockdown the charity launched The 2 Minute Virtual Beach School to help take the pressure off home-schooling. This online learning initiative was available to everyone and provided a free teaching resource for parents, carers and teachers to use in their classrooms or home-learning syllabus. The 2 Minute Foundation filmed a series of weekly educational videos that were accompanied by a teaching resource pack and corresponding activity. The virtual lessons were very well received and can be viewed on their website.
