The plan for the formation of a cycle path from Crooklets to Summerleaze has now reached the heady heights of Cornwall Council’s planning department. Planning application number is PA20/00810 and you can have your say, however you feel, here.
Plans drawn up by the Bazeley Partnership for the Town Council (whose application it is) show the following (more detail on the Cornwall Council website) which may clarify the issue for people.
There seem to be two camps of people: those who feel cyclists need a cycle path as the road between Crooklets to Summerleaze is ‘unsafe’ and those who feel the Downs were bequeathed as an amenity to the people of the town for non-vehicular traffic and should be preserved as such.
Cyclists do, however, use the current pedestrian path at times.
