A fire has been reported by Cornwall Fire Service on Bodmin Moor, in the vicinity of Brown Willy and Rough Tor.
At 22 45 hrs, the first of many 999 calls were received by Critical Control reporting a large fire on the moor. Fire crews from Bodmin and Launceston were mobilised. The fire was located on Maiden Tor and was burning on two fronts, about one mile in length.
Shortly after midnight, crews were called to another fire as Cornwall Fire Service reported:
Fire crews from Launceston, Delabole and Callington are in attendance at a gorse fire, near to the A395 at Laneast Downs. Firefighters are fighting the fire, which is spread across about thirty hectares of gorse.
Hard to believe, given it is so cold today, but please be careful when walking in areas containing gorse.
