Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service has recognised the support shown by employers of retained firefighters by holding an Employers Evening at Holsworthy Fire Station.
To show the Service’s gratitude to employers of retained firefighters, the primary employers were presented with a certificate of appreciation and framed picture by Area Commander Steve Widnell and the Portreath of Holsworthy.
A presentation also took place to present Queen’s Jubilee Medals and coins to serving Service personnel.
The Mayor and local councillors were also invited and the group watched demonstrations of a rescue from height involving co-responding skills to treat the casualty.
Station Manager Mark Sanders said: “Events like this do much to highlight the important and diverse nature of the work that we do, to acknowledge the commitment of our retained employees and give us the opportunity to thank the employers.”
The Service’s road safety education vehicle was at the station to show the invited guests some of the other work the station personnel are involved in.
