Police were called to reports of a two vehicle collision on the A38 just outside of Landrake, Cornwall yesterday at around 3pm. There were several casualties with serious injuries. Two women were taken to Derriford Hospital, in Plymouth, by ambulance, with suspected life-threatening injuries; a third woman sadly died at the scene.
The road between the Carkeel and Trerulefoot roundabouts was closed for more than seven hours due to the incident, to allow for investigations to be carried out and for the vehicles to be recovered. They were reopened again soon after midnight. Tailbacks of up to three miles (4.8km) were reported during the closure.
