From Devon & Cornwall Police:
At approximately 17:32 hours on Saturday 16th March 2019 police received a number of 999 calls in relation to a serious two-vehicle road traffic collision which had occurred on the A390 near to the junction of Coliza Hill, Trelowth, St Austell.
Involved was a silver Jaguar XF, driven by a 26-year-old male from the St Austell area, and a green Mazda MX-5 driven by a 32-year-old local male.
South West Ambulance Service and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.
As a result of the collision, the 26-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 32-year-old male was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police officers from the Roads Policing Team, including specialist Forensic Collision Investigators, closed the road for approximately 6 hours in order to carry out a thorough scene investigation.
