Family pay tribute to 18 year old killed in vehicle collision

An 18-year-old who was involved in a single vehicle collision on Friday 16 March, has died.

Jodie Hynes was injured when the vehicle she was travelling in collided with a tree just north of Snapper. She was taken to North Devon District Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

Jodie’s family have paid the following tribute:

“Beautiful daughter who will be missed and never forgotten. She was educated, lived and worked in the Lynton area within a close community of family and friends, who loved her for the happy, kind and loving girl she was.”


Emergency services were called at around 3.30pm on Friday 16 March to reports of a silver Corsa in a collision with a tree. Two occupants were taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Lynmouth, remains in hospital being treated for his injuries.

The road was closed for nine hours while police carried out investigations at the scene.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to the collision and to anyone who may have seen the vehicle travelling in the area prior to the incident.
