Cornwall is set to become an enhanced response area. This means that extra support will be given to south-west England to tackle a spike in Covid-19 cases, such as a greater capacity for testing, and help with the vaccine rollout.
It does not mean restrictions on movement or lockdown.
Cornwall has the highest Covid rate in England at the moment. Parts of Devon are also high. There is as yet no call to cancel events, but people are advised to take precautionary action by taking lateral flow tests before leaving home and staying put if testing positive.
The BBC has reported that there are currently 32 patients in hospital with the virus in Cornwall, seven of whom were in intensive care.
Not yet vaccinated? Well, good luck.
