Exciting new dishes at Surfin’ Frog

The Surfin’ Frog is becoming Bude’s bistro of choice, especially during the evenings but they open for brunches, too.

Now, chefs Jo and Arthur have added a couple of interesting new ideas to the menu – a vegan option that everyone loves whether they are vegan or not – crispy & sticky beer-battered cauliflower tacos with sesame sauce & Asian slaw – yesterday evening pretty much every table ordered it!

This may be one for me as I adore cauliflower!

They’ve also added a burrata – Italian mozzarella pouch filled with a soft creamy centre and served with heritage tomato salad, edible flowers and served with a balsamic glaze, smoked salt and black garlic.  Again, proving to be very popular.

So pretty!

Their aim as is to keep bringing unusual and interesting food to the menu – next up will be a Peking duck Hirata bun (steamed Japanese folded bun) with strips of spring onion & plum sauce – watch out for it in the next week or so.

Looking ahead, next year they’ll be trying to get live jazz into The Frog during the Jazz Festival –they were too late this year, but have space for a solo or duo and would love to help increase the number of venues and bring a little more jazz to Queen Street! Any interested musicians please pop in!

Here’s some recent reviews on Facebook:

Fantastic restaurant!
The food was amazing and the menu had food to suit all our tastes (fussy kids!)
The family who run it are lovely and really friendly people.
Very happy customers.
(I recommend the beer battered cauliflower tacos, delicious).

I came to the Surfin’ Frog with 4 others- including one child. We all felt extremely welcome and the atmosphere was very nice. The service was amazing and the food is just as amazing! They are very adaptable and would recommend the Surfin’ Frog to anyone.

We dived in because there was a table free; while they don’t have a children’s menu they’re happy to amend to child portions. The meals we had were amazing and the coffee roast they use is just so smooth! Lovely place, clearly ran with passion.

We stumbled across this little gem, tucked away up a side street: perfect place to eat!
We had a lovely family meal, excellent service and beautiful tasty food! Thank you for a fantastic meal.
