Despite pretty abysmal weather today which reduced numbers attending, Bude Earth Festival continued with some wonderful talks stalls and events after its opening yesterday.
Thanks very much to Carolyn Seager from the Castle for organising this informative event on a shoestring. I managed to enjoy the Shark and the Heavy Horses talks, and my relative attended the Sea Shepherd event, which he found enlightening. What was wonderful was how much I learned from these talks, such as how many species of sharks there are, and why heavy horses are an environmentally-friendly way to shift logs when clearing forestry areas.
As the sun appeared, so did the people, but I feel this is first festival was a case of small acorns creating new beginnings in making us all more aware.
It was a shame that the stalls were situated in the Parkhouse due to the weather, but there was no other workable option. Another brilliant event for Bude, which I hope will grow from strength to strength annually.
