From Bude Coastguard:
Bude Coastguard Rescue Team members were paged at 17:36 yesterday to a report of two people cut off by the tide just south of Duckpool.
Arriving on scene just after Bude Lifeboat, the Officer in Charge observed a lifeboat crewman climbing the cliff to the position of one of the casualties.
The other casualty was safe on a dry patch of beach. Due to the position of the casualty on a promontory, a rope rescue was deemed impractical so a request was made for Rescue 924, the Coastguard helicopter. Hartland Coastguard Search and Rescue Team, who had also been tasked, prepared a helicopter landing site on the fields ready to receive the rescued casualty and lifeboat crewman who were both winched off the cliff.
The second casualty was taken off the beach by the lifeboat and recovered to Duckpool where the two casualties were reunited.
Great work by all involved.
