Dog dies in Port Isaac cliff fall

Sad news from Port Isaac RNLI who reported yesterday:

Port Isaac lifeboat was tasked at 1218 today to a dog over the cliff at Backways Cove. We’re very sad to report that the dog did not survive the fall.

The crew were able to recover the body to return to the owners at Trebarwith Strand.

All at Port Issac RNLI send our condolences to the owners. Many thanks to all who responded.

RNLI advice:

  • Keep your dog on a lead if close to cliff edges or fast flowing rivers.
  • If your dog goes into the water or gets stuck in the mud, don’t go after them. Move to a place they can get to safely and call them – many dogs get out by themselves.
  • If you’re worried about your dog, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
