Dog dies in cliff fall near Trebarwith Strand

From Port Isaac RNLI:

Yesterday morning, Port Isaac RNLI was tasked to reports of a man and two dogs in the water at Backways Cove, near Trebarwith Strand. The inshore lifeboat Pride of Port Isaac Goeth Porthusek headed for the scene. Boscastle Coastguard Team members were also in attendance.
By now the owner had made his way back to shore with one dog but he was unable to locate the other. The dog was taken for immediate veterinary treatment.
Boscastle Coastguard located the other dog and very sadly it had not survived. Port Isaac lifeboat then approached the rocks and were able to collect the dog.
Our thoughts go out to the owner and dogs after this sad incident.
Please remember to follow the RNLI’s advice when walking dogs near cliff edges. Thank you to all who responded today.
