Padstow Coastguard report that they were tasked to reports of a dog over the cliff today at Trevone Round Hole. Polzeath Coastguard members were also tasked to provide backup for a technical rescue. They could easily have been hampered by the vehicle parked in front of the gate that emergency services use to access the coastline there. They say:
On Wednesday the 17th July 2019, this gate provided the sole access point for multiple emergency services vehicles including the Coastguard and South West Ambulance Service. Had this vehicle been in situ then, it would have delayed our access to an injured casualty.
Padstow CRT implemented a full rope rescue setup and deployed two cliff technicians into the Round Hole via an assisted descent.
Sadly the dog was found to be deceased. It was recovered to its family and both teams were then stood down.
