Pollution Alert: Storm sewage has been discharged from a sewer overflow in this location within the past 48 hours.
Westward Ho! is a long, sandy resort beach with a pebble ridge. At the northern end of the beach are the mouths of the rivers Taw and Torridge and the beach is backed by Northam Burrows Country Park. A sewer overflow discharges to the sea at Nose Rock at the southern end of the beach while the Tawe/Torridge estuary also receives overflows from the surrounding urban area. Water quality can also be impacted by diffuse pollution.
