Two men charged after serious assault in Barnstaple nightclub

From Devon & Cornwall Police:

Police officers were called to Fever and Boutique Nightclub on Queen Street, Barnstaple just before 3 am on Friday 28 June following reports of a man having been subject to a serious assault.

Units attended and Police arrested two men in connection to this incident.

The victim, a local man in his 20s sustained a laceration to this throat and was treated at the scene.

Following a police investigation, officers have since charged two men.

Wayne Tandy, aged 37, of Broadway, Wakefield, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and being in possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Nicholas Stephenson, aged 29, from Barden Road, Wakefield, was charged with driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Both men appeared at Exeter Magistrates on Saturday 29 June.

Mr Tandy has been held in remand and is next due before Exeter Crown Court on 1 August.

Mr Stephenson has been released on police bail and will appear at Barnstaple Magistrates Court on Friday 12 July.
