Covid update for SW

Covid case numbers seem to be rising in various parts of the country, but they have dropped overall in the SW.

In Cornwall, for the 7 days to 7th September, cases totalled 2101, down by 304 (12.6%). In Bude, numbers dropped to 22 but they. rose by 7 in wider Poundstock and Kilkhampton, to 21. There are still high clusters in Cornwall, such as Looe, with 42 cases, going up. In Bodmin, cases are now dropping, at 46.



Devon also has a drop, to 2695 cases, but hotspots remain in Plymouth and Torbay.  Cases are rising slightly in North Devon, but are dropping in Torridge.

In the hospitals:

North Devon

2 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 5 September 2021.

Between 30 August 2021 and 5 September 2021, 12 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows no change compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 16 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 7 September 2021.

There were 3 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 7 September 2021.

Cornwall/Isles of Scilly

There was 1 death within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 12 September 2021.

Between 6 September 2021 and 12 September 2021, there have been 7 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows a decrease of -12.5% compared to the previous 7 days.

Nationally, there are quite a few pockets:

Scotland and Wales are badly affected, with Glasgow and Edinburgh both high but dropping.
