Covid numbers are dropping in most of Cornwall and Devon, even if not as quickly as people might like, amidst reports in growth of holiday bookings for summer. Total cases to 21st January in Cornwall were down to 1118. In Devon, cases were reduced to 1046 cases. In Torridge, cases numbered 34. Holsworthy, Bradworthy and Welcome did have a rise in cases to 8 for that period.
Today, the government has also announced that schools will not go back until 8th March, 2021, at the earliest. This depends on vaccination targets being met. Schools should be given two weeks’ notice – they could be going back just in time for the Easter holidays!
Early years settings still seem to be open as usual ay present despite concerns from staff, and little financial help, no tests (and no vaccines).
Quarantine is also being tightened for travellers from so-called ‘red list’ countries.
