Covid isolation being cut to 5 days

As cases drop in many areas, including Bude, which had 130 Covid cases in the 30 days to 7th January, the government has decided that the Covid isolation period will be cut, from Monday, to 5 full days for people who test positive. People will be able leave isolation from the start of day six after two negative tests, the health secretary, Sajid Javid, told MPs.

This is part of the ‘learning to live with Covid’ agenda, which will enable many people to return to work sooner, and for businesses to get closer to normal. The NHS, care homes and other vital services remain under some pressure due to staff shortages.
