Covid cases rose to triple figures in Bude over Christmas

In the 7 days to 27th December, Covid cases in Bude rose to 103, a case rate per 100,000 of 971.8, so high for Cornwall but still below the England average.

The surrounding areas of Poundstock and Kilkhampton were also higher, at 74 cases, a rolling rate of 971.4.

Holsworthy, Bradworthy and Welcombe had 83 cases, a rate of 820.6.

Overall, Cornwall had 3912 cases, a rate of 679.7.

By 31st December, 87.4% of people in Bude and Stratton had received a first vaccine dose, 82.1% a second dose and 63.6% a booster or third dose.

Patients admitted to North Devon Healthcare in the 7 days to 26th December rose to 10.

Deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly rose to 8. Obviously, as ever, the statistics do not tell the whole story, and not all deaths listed will be totally due to Covid; there are probably other underlying health conditions present which Covid exacerbates.
