In the 7 days to 18th December, there were 76 cases of Covid in Bude & Stratton, a high case rate of 717.0 per 100,000 people.
Poundstock & Kilkhampton had 58 cases, a rate of 761.8. Both areas were rising, but below the new English average.
Overall, cases are now rising again in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. 2810 cases meant a case rate of 488.2, while Devon had a drop to 4480 cases, a rate of 552.6 but Torridge’s rate had dropped to 297 cases, a rate of 432.2
Conversely, cases in parts of London are very high. Lambeth, for example, has 9492 cases, a case rate of 2,949.5
87.1% of people have had their first vaccine in Bude & Stratton, with 81.8% their second dose and 59.8% their third dose or booster as of 22nd December.
People hospitalised and deaths within Cornwall and Devon seem to have dropped. Current news suggests people catching Omicron are 50% to 70% less likely to need hospital treatment compared to previous variants. However, it is not known how many cases in our area are Omicron or Delta.
