Covid 19 – weekend SW update

The good news is that numbers of new Covid-19 cases in Devon dropped to turn the area blue on the interactive map, rather than purple, in the week to 30th August, 2021.

Numbers dropped to 2925, a rolling rate of 360.8 per 100,000

In Torridge, numbers dropped to 230.

 

Bude is still in the purple zone, but cases have dropped to 49. Cornwall as a whole saw a drop to 2523, with Newquay still the worst hit area.

 

For Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly:

 

332 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 4 September 2021.

Between 29 August 2021 and 4 September 2021, 2,255 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of -33.7% compared to the previous 7 days.

 

North Devon Healthcare Trust

 

1 person with coronavirus went into hospital on 29 August 2021.

Between 23 August 2021 and 29 August 2021, 12 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows a decrease of -25.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 19 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 31 August 2021.

 

Deaths in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

There were 5 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 4 September 2021.

Between 29 August 2021 and 4 September 2021, there have been 7 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows a decrease of -22.2% compared to the previous 7 days.

 

So, things appear to be going in the right direction, after the recent rise in cases.
