At a grand opening on Saturday 23rd February, Bude Repair Cafe got underway to reduce waste by repairing rather than binning. Well done to all involved. I’ve seen this happen elsewhere and it is a great initiative.
Led by volunteers, Repair Cafe Bude repairs broken items rather than throw them away, sharing and teaching repair skills for free!
One supporter said: You can get your broken small household items and bicycles fixed for a donation, so avoiding more items from going to landfill. There is also lovely coffee and cake served while you wait. A lovely friendly helpful group of volunteers all there to help. Great initiative.
It is held every last weekend of the month. Check out their Facebook page to see what kind of things they’ve been doing.
10.30am – 12.30pm, @ Neetside Community Centre. Next session is Saturday, March 30th and then Saturday, April 27th.
The team says:
Bring your items in need of repair from small scale electrics (toasters, lights, radios) to bikes, clothes, bags, watches and we’ll see what we can do to help you save money, reduce waste and learn new skills all at the same time!
