Community Workshop and Men’s Shed coming to Bude, 2022

By Jason King:

A new community interest company has been incorporated in Bude, and with it comes plans for a community workshop and Men’s Shed. Currently fundraising through Crowdfunder, The Repurpose Movement will be collecting waste pallets from local businesses and building sites, and upcycling them into furniture and art.

The Repurpose Movement has joined the UK Men’s Shed Association, a nationwide organisation that supports the setup and organisation of workshops where people can come together to share skills and hobbies, and in doing so, reduce isolation and loneliness. All members of Bude’s community are welcome – attendance won’t be discriminatory.  Twice a week, depending upon demand, The Repurpose Movement will open their workshops through a membership scheme, and offer a place for budding wood-workers, hobbyists or the just-plain-curious to develop their woodworking skills. Once established, the aim is to roll out apprenticeships to those wanting to pursue a career in woodworking.
