It’s been handy this lockdown easing. If nothing else, it has kept the Coastguard busy!
Bude Coastguard wrote on their Facebook page:
For at least the next two weekends, Bude Coastguard Rescue Team will be operating safety patrols in known coastal incident hotspots in the local area, maintaining a consistent, enhanced level of readiness should we be called upon.
We will also be providing safety advice to members of the public who request it, or to those seen to be putting themselves at unnecessary levels of risk.
Although sea swimming, surfing and other sea-based watersports are permitted, please be aware that there is no lifeguard cover on any local beaches, and patrolling Coastguard Rescue Teams should not be regarded as a substitute for such. Please follow all the recommended safety advice before entering the water, and dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard in an emergency.
If you encounter our team whilst we’re on patrol, please do feel free to approach us (social distance allowing 😊) for any advice, or to just find out a little more about what we do.
