From Bude Coastguard:
Bude Coastguard Rescue Team was paged at around 11am this morning to investigate a report of a surfer or kayaker possibly in trouble in the waters off Cam Beak, the headland just south of Crackington Haven. Bude Lifeboat was also tasked.
Arriving just ahead of the Lifeboat, Coastguard team members made their way to a vantage point on the cliffs and got “eyes-on” to the craft in question. Initial suspicions by Rescue Officers that the kayaker was safe and well and enjoying a spot of fishing were confirmed when the Lifeboat pulled alongside to speak to the individual in question.
But when in doubt, it’s best to make that call.
