Clocks change tonight

Remember, the clocks go forward at 1am on Sunday 28 March 2021 – tonight in other words. So, we ‘lose’ an hour.

Initially we will notice slightly darker mornings and lighter evenings as the number of daylight hours continue to get longer up to the summer solstice.

This will last until 2am on Sunday 31 October 2021 when the clocks go back.

For the record, in the UK the clocks go forward 1 hour at 1 am on the last Sunday in March, and back 1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October.

The period when the clocks are 1 hour ahead is called British Summer Time (BST). There’s more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings (sometimes called Daylight Saving Time).

When the clocks go back, the UK is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
