Christmas thanks are due to all who have contributed to Bude and Beyond this year, especially our IT supremos, Rob Wilcox and Dean Wronowski, who give their time for free, folks regardless of what else is happening in their lives. Rob keeps the website running smoothly and Dean is especially helpful with Facebook (not my favourite task at all).
We have, alas, not been able to have a pre-Christmas meet up this year.
Thanks also to our advertisers – and to those who are no longer advertising because this Covid year has made trade so poor – we feel for anyone struggling. I give out good wishes to all local businesses and hope they survive 2021 as Covid rages on. I had stopped taking advertising while thinking about the future of Bude and Beyond but will be offering a revised version in 2021.
At a personal level, I have to give great thanks to Mark at Morwenna Dental Surgery who yesterday kindly stuck my crown back on (phew) – Christmas would have been grim otherwise and I promise not to eat a more toffees.
Also, big thanks to Bude Library Service from whom I have borrowed a multitude of books this year, ensuring I met my target reading of a book a week at minimal cost to me. Thanks also to The Castle for the Pamela Colman Smith plaque, meaning the subject of my latest book gets a little place in Bude’s history.
And thanks to all the readers who contribute, read and enjoy B and B. Mind you, I’ve been criticised for all sorts of things this year: my favourite is for being a Guardian reader. That won’t change.
Bude and Beyond remains a time consuming and expensive hobby, but it has also been a useful distraction during 2020, so I, for one, am glad of it. Hope you are, too.
