Castle restores 2 oil paintings

From the Castle Facebook page:

The Castle Heritage Centre, Bude, has recently had 2 oil paintings by William Wood Deane (1825 -1873), whose father was once mayor of Barnstaple, cleaned and restored.

This pair of paintings depicts St Michael’s Mount and Mont St Michel in Normandy and it is believed they were painted mid to late 1800s.

The colours are more vibrant and the detail is much clearer.

Come and take a look at these paintings which live on the stairwell to the Heritage Centre
