It was an amazing day – Bude’s first Vegan Fair (N Cornwall) and the Parkhouse was buzzing in a way I haven’t seen for a long time. This ought to be telling us something about the way food and its production is evolving.
Free food samples, amazing speakers, delicious food, ice cream, cakes, eco products, clothing and cosmetics, fun children’s games, glitter artist, VR headsets, live music, films all combined to show that veganism is a life choice – but not a dull one.
The food was good – loved the chickpea, coconut and kale curry and daal combo, as did The Mayor, Bob Willingham, who polished his plate off in style, even taking off his chain of honour for the job. The stalls were fascinating – and at times uncomfortable if we start thinking where our food comes from, but that’s a good thing. To top it all, I won a raffle prize on the Animal Free Research stall. The proactive Bude Group raised £256.70 today for groundbreaking diabetes research at Exeter University Medical School. The coveted Rockin’ Rooster is mine! I visualised where it is going – maybe it helped!
