OK, maybe I’m getting a little carried away, but …
As a regular at Appledore Book Festival and a visitor to North Cornwall Book Fest at Endellion for the last couple of years, I’m really thrilled that Bude is holding a literary festival this year.
Like all festivals, I am sure it will start small but these things have a habit of growing, bringing with them a longer tourist season but equally as important, some cultural events for locals. Book Festivals are wonderful. Sure, they are a place for authors to promote books but they also have ‘in discussion’ sessions, workshops, and you hear some amazing authors.
I’m already enjoying Bude library’s Book Group which meets monthly and has encouraged me to read books I otherwise probably wouldn’t, thereby widening my literary horizons, so it is wonderful to see the world of literature catching up with artistic and musical endeavour in Bude. To my eye, cultural and educational events are the only major thing Bude is missing, so it is wonderful to see the Castle and the Library addressing this.
At this rate, we will have educational talks next, and I for one can’t wait!
A brand new addition to Bude’s fantastic calendar of events this year
“Bude Literary Festival” a weeklong celebration of all things literature, from writing workshops to guest authors, songwriting and speakers, this event will offer something for everyone, not to be missed!
