Once again Bude’s biggest fundraising event for the RNLI is set to entertain the crowds attending Bude Lifeboat Week from 25August – 2 September.
Working hard behind the scenes, the Bude lifeboat committee and crew have put together an event that will ensure everyone has a fun time whilst raising vital funds for the ‘Lifejackets for Lifesavers’ campaign.
The RNLI marquee will be set on the picturesque lawns of the Castle and the majority of events will take place around here and the canal.
The usual popular events are scheduled including the charity table top sale on Saturday 25th with refreshments and a licensed bar and this year Pirate FM will be joining us from 12noon – 2pm with lots of music and fun. Following this is the ‘next generation’ quiz night at 7pm.
On Sunday 26th there will be a kiddies disco with fun and games from 3pm – 5pm. Entrance is £1 for each child and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the event.
Also on the 26th is the ever popular and grand choir evening this year with the fantastic Champagne Barbers Shop Ladies and Wadebridge Male Voice Choir at 8pm.
Monday 27th August is Bude Lifeboat Day, Bude’s most fun packed day of the year; this year will have the usual mix of exciting events and activities to entertain everyone from 10am – 10pm including rowing races, capsize drills and back by popular demand after a break is the Crab Fishing Competition at 1pm!
There will also be live music and a Search and Rescue demonstration by Bude lifeboat with the SAR helicopter from RMB Chivenor at 2.45pm. (provided the helicopter is not required on a callout)
There will be lots for all to do and plenty of refreshments to keep you going, there will be morning coffee and cake in the marquee, a barbeque on the Canal Wharf and delicious cream teas in the afternoon. Face painting, music and Bude Area Toy Library will be on the Castle Grounds and for the first time the popular hog roast will be served twice during the day at 5pm and 7pm.
Following the thrilling duck race at 6pm is a kids disco with a special performance by the Amanda Brook School of Dance and then live music by Blue Slate and a licensed bar; to round the day off will be a grand firework finale at approximately 9.30pm.
Come along and join the fun at Bude’s biggest fundraising event for the RNLI
To finish off the week there will be a Craft Fair in the marquee from Wednesday 29th August – Saturday 1st September and on Sunday 2nd September Songs of Praise will be held from 3pm – 4pm – all are welcome.
So it’s hoped that with this packed programme you’ll come along and join us for some events during Bude Lifeboat Week, don’t forget if you’d like to help during the events even if it’s just for a couple of hours you can leave your details at the Lifeboat shop.
Look out for the official Lifeboat Week programme on sale around town and at the RNLI shop, also we’ll be selling Duck Race tickets in advance and on the day to make sure you’re part of this fun event! Photo by Lisa Tame of Bude RNLI
