Approximately 80 students and their parents attended the GCSE Evening of Celebration on Wednesday 19th December to recognise their excellent results in the summer exams, reports Mel Bardsley. Budehaven students, some of whom had made a special journey from Exeter and Truro to attend, collected their GCSE certificates, as well as some individuals being recognised for overall top marks in a subject. Highest overall achieving boys were Joe Huxford and Stuart Grigg, the top achieving girls were Idony Perrett and Jodie Granger.
Doctor David Hillebrandt (a local GP and active mountaineer who has been chief medical advisor for the British Mountaineering Association) was the school’s guest speaker. He gave a humorous and refreshingly honest talk emphasising how the students should follow their dreams and challenge themselves throughout their lives.
Mel said: “It was a lovely social evening of celebration and a great opportunity to get this dynamic, confident year group together again and catch up with what has been happening for them all over the past 3 months. So many of these students are already doing well in their A levels and on other courses around the South West, and as always I know they will go on to achieve great things”.
