Bude-Stratton Heritage Festival goes online for 2020

The much-loved annual Bude – Stratton Heritage Festival has sadly had to be cancelled this year due to Covid-19. Instead, there will be a special online event, celebrating Bude and Stratton’s wonderful heritage.

‘The virtual Heritage Festival’ will include blogs and presentations about the Battle of Stratton, medieval Bude, Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, Pamela Colman- Smith and much more.

There will be a virtual tour of the barge workshop at Helebridge and entertainment from The Countrymen, The Bencoolen Wreckers and Aidan B for you to enjoy.

Each year, the Heritage Festival welcomes a variety of Bude’s community groups. The virtual Heritage Festival will provide an opportunity for some of these groups to tell us more about their organisation and the fantastic work they do for the community.

This year we are asking the public to get involved!

We are keen to hear your memories of The Parkhouse Centre as a school and also The Castle when it provided a range of services to the local community, to be shared as part of the event.

Please send your memories and any photographs you may have to our heritage development officer Janine King at jking@bude-stratton.gov.uk

The virtual Heritage Festival will be launched online via The Castle website on the 19th July, from 11am.
