Bude is beginning to feel like the epicentre of all things green at the moment, so it is great news that the Town Council is also getting on board to promote greener ways forward.
The Council has approved three proposals from A Greener Bude which is a group of like-minded individuals, groups and organisations working towards making Bude a sustainable circular economy. To this end, the Town Council has agreed:
- to work with A Greener Bude to review the use of single-use plastics in council buildings with a view to phasing out the use of unnecessary SUPs by Bude-Stratton Town Council.
- support initiatives to help Bude’s businesses, organisations and residents transition from SUPs to more sustainable alternatives
- encourage traders on BSTC land to sell reusable containers and/or invite customers to bring their own.
There was also a recommendation from the Heritage and Culture Committee held in February to reduce single-use plastics at events held on council land. This was also passed.
