Volunteer Open Week at Bude Sea Pool Office
Monday 16th March – Saturday 21st March
Whether you’re 8 or 80, were born locally, have moved here recently, swim in the Sea Pool or just like being around it, we’d love to meet you and show you what we do. Why? – Because we’re always on the lookout for like-minded people to join us and help keep the Sea Pool accessible today and for decades to come.
Without the support of our team of volunteers, it would be impossible to keep Bude Sea Pool open and operational. Each and every Volunteer makes a crucial difference every time they lend a hand. A free hour every week, an afternoon once a month or whatever time you can spare, it all adds up to maintaining and preserving our unique local hot-spot – and it’s fun!
….. Special Volunteer information Week …..
Friends of Bude Sea Pool ( FoBSP) are holding a special Volunteer Information Week from Monday 16th March until Saturday 21st March so you can come along and find out more about volunteering for this great cause. The shop in Summerleaze Crescent will be open from 10 am – 4 pm every day and you can talk to some of our current volunteers, our part-time staff and Committee Members to find out all you need to know ( and enjoy a cup of coffee and cake too!). On Saturday 21st March, volunteers will be also down at the sea pool to show you what our maintenance volunteers do to keep the pool area clean and free from debris and rubble.
….. What can I do as a Volunteer? …..
Running the charity that keeps the Sea Pool open is just like running a business. There are lots of activities that need to be managed and tasks that need to be done – almost on a daily basis. This is why we need a rich mix of personalities, skills, experiences, brains, muscles, and smiles!
Perhaps you, or somebody you know, would like to help out with:
- Helping at fund-raising events
- Baking cakes for events
- Helping in our shop
- Clearing away the high-tide pebbles and storm debris
- DIY and painting the beach huts
- Running some of our social media pages
- Offering your particular professional expertise to our Committee – such as Media & PR, Marketing, Graphic Design or Event Management
No regular commitment is required, it’s a very flexible arrangement to suit your circumstance. An hour or two every week or just whenever you are free would be greatly appreciated.
….. I have just moved to the Bude area and don’t know anyone! …..
Becoming a FoBSP Volunteer is a fantastic way to meet new people and become part of a friendly social group of all ages and backgrounds. We all love living in or near to Bude and it’s a great and productive way to get involved in the community.
If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer, why not come along to the Volunteer Information Week or come to a Coffee Morning to find out more about the charity and how you could help.
….. Monthly Volunteer Coffee Mornings …..
Clear out your diary as every month we hold a Volunteer Coffee Morning. This is where the Volunteers and FoBSP Committee and staff get together to meet and find out the latest information and developments at the Sea Pool.
