From Bude Sea Pool:
The Sea Pool has been fixed, is full and being replenished every tide – just as it should be. .
Last week, contractors finished their mammoth annual maintenance project which included the additional work of replacing the faulty sluice gate and repairing its poolside fittings. They’ve done a grand job.
With the beautiful weather last week and the completion of works, we saw the Pool get ever more summer-ready (although in response to Covid-19, in a slightly different way than other years). Our summer Pool staff have returned, and with the Shop in Summerleaze car park open, so have some of our shop volunteers. It lifts the spirits to see their blue-topped presence back in the vicinity of the Pool and the Shop. As you would expect, they have been welcoming, advising and fielding questions – we are always happy to help so keep coming over to say a “socially-distanced” hello. It is great to see you back – the pool is coming alive again.
Being in line with Covid-19 government guidelines
We have carefully considered what we can offer to help members of the public remain safe while using our free, public outdoor resource. We ask you, our visitors, to remain aware of respectful of social distancing for you and other fellow users – the pool is likely to be busy at times. Please take note:
- We’ve added more signage to act as reminders to our visitors about social distancing and we have created a one-way system for busy periods (thank you to our highly responsive printers for producing these).
- Sadly, our changing rooms and lockers remain closed due to these regulations.
- We have taken the difficult decision to not rent out deckchairs this summer to minimise contact risk or to have daily rentals on a beach hut.
